weekend crazy…

So, hi.

This weekend I had the opportunity to visit with my younger brother and his family. Which includes his yummy new little boy, Charlie. He’s almost five months old. And very snuggly. And smells like a baby. Super yummy.

I took advantage of the opportunity and packed up Finny (Hobbes had soccer games and birthday parties- he’s big like that) and hit the road. With my mom along for the ride. Which helped a lot, especially during potty breaks on the 5ish hour drive.

So, the weekend was great. And full of snuggly babies and low-country fun.

Out to eat with some tired babies on the first night…

Playgrounds and walking trails (and bug spray!!) on Saturday…

Bouncy seats are the coolest…

We even made it out to Red’s for some drinks. On the water…

Just the “big kids”…

Breakfast on Sunday morning involved very cute babies…

And very giant cookies. Please, don’t ask. We needed food in Finn’s tummy for the ride home. And it didn’t hurt that Mommy MAY have wanted a bite. Not that I got one. He’s not really a sharer, that Finny…

Now, here’s why I haven’t been in touch. I had all intentions of downloading all my nice pictures (these are only the iPhone pics) and creating a beautiful and informative bloggy for you all to read YESTERDAY afternoon.

But pardon me while I got stuck in traffic.

I got home, drank two glasses of wine, cried a little, and went to bed.

Then I got up, loved on Hobbes (who I missed an incredible amount for only having been gone for two days), got him to school and started on the 27 thousand loads of laundry that seem to have built up since I left on Friday.

Then Finn and I went by the grocery store to pick up some milk on the way to get Hobbes from school.

And Finn shoved a whole cookie in his mouth.

And coughed a lot.

And threw the cookie up (along with some juice) all over the cart and his clothes.

And we got back in the car and I had unpacked my diaper bag on accident.

And we didn’t have enough time to go home to change before getting Hobbes.

So my child rode with me threw the pick up line.

Basically naked.

Please to enjoy.

I know we did….

So, it’s hectic this morning, but I wanted to catch up before it continues!!

This week has been a week of firsts.

Hobbes had his first “lunch bunch” at school…

IMG_0626 with his new lunch box (dinosaurs) and some of his fave foods (bananas, crackers, yogurt, raisins). It was a success. It was sort of traumatic for me- leaving him at school for an extra hour and letting them feed him. But it is good practice. For him. And for me. Admittedly.

Also, Hobbes tried a little karate-type class at a local Little Gym. It was hectic. Finn wanted to go, too. But he couldn’t. But he REALLY, REALLY wanted to…

It was really kind of sad.

Also, my mom arrived to visit with Hobbes before she, Finny, and I head off on a quick road trip to visit my brother, sister-in-law, and little nephew Charlie in Charleston, SC.

Before that trip, though, I had to get in my long run.

I did it on Thursday, yesterday…It was 8 miles. 7.7, really, because it was bad. Painful. I am still contemplating where I went wrong, then will report back.

I also got almost 7 inches chopped off my hair. I never remember to get my hair cut because I wear it in a ponytail of some sort EVERY SINGLE DAY! So, it had probably been almost a year. Seriously. I will try to get photographic evidence of this soon. For now, I do not have such.

So, this day is wild. So far I have done a load of laundry, run 2 miles (trying to redeem myself for yesterday’s run- I can’t even explain right now!), packed the car. I am trying to get Hobbes off to school so we can hit the road.

I’ll try to report from there. In some manner!

Have a great weekend!!

Let me start by saying that I had all sorts of good intentions yesterday, mostly including yoga and/or a long walk. I will summarize my shortcomings by saying this: I did not involve myself in any exercise-like activities yesterday. I did a lot of moving around, cleaning, playing, laundry hauling, gardening…but nothing that actually involved putting on a sports bra and sweating for an hour.

And now that I’ve gotten that off of my chest, we’ll move along!

If you missed my very short race recap, you can check it out here. I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that I am half-way through my half marathon training- the race is NOVEMBER 7th!

I can hardly believe that the first week of school is over. But Hobbes, now, he is truly excited to be back at school.

…and as jealous as Finn looks about sitting in the car while Hobbes goes into school, he’s equally excited about the COOKIES that are inevitably made during the afternoons of some school days..

I have to say, this weekend absolutely flew by.

With no out-of-town football games to attend and no little-man soccer games, it still flew by. Really, without much to show for it.

Oh, except for that whole 10K thing. But when something starts at 8 a.m. and ends by 9-ish, it doesn’t remain too memorable in the grand scheme of kids and weekend things.

We did head out to our library’s annual book sale. Because I have an addiction to books, and my children seem to have inherited this true love. Thanks.

$27 equaled 13 adult paperbacks, 1 adult hardcover, and 9 kiddo books.

I kid you not.

I felt like I was on a treasure hunt and could have wandered around the book stacks FOREVER and EVER! But instead, I had to get the boys back out into the sunshine. Plus, it was really fun/cute to watch Hobbes push Finn in the little umbrella stroller!

Oh. And Finn needed another cookie.

Also, he needs a haircut. But I am not ready for that, yet.

Later today I am starting the garden tear-down and running 4ish miles.

What are you up to?
